The Red Beanbag, situated within Publika Mall in Solaris Dutamas, is a contemporary Australian-inspired cafe that serves up hearty all-day breakfasts and western delicacies. Nestled in a first-floor corner overlooking Publika’s Plazza and Istana Negara (Malaysia’s National Palace), the cafe is beautifully decorated with rustic wooden furnishings, miniature potted plants, and coffee bean bags hanging on its grey cement walls. The Red Beanbag is divided into two dining areas - a fully air-conditioned indoor section with large windows, a mix of wooden furniture and plush cushioned seats as well as an al fresco dining area beautifully decorated with potted plants, wooden benches, and a spacious communal table catering to large gatherings.

A great treat for diners with a sweet tooth is the Skyscraper (RM17), where diners can enjoy a stack of piping hot pancakes heavily drizzled with Canadian maple syrup and dark chocolate sauce, served with a side of caramelised fruits. Perfect as a brunch or dessert option, we love the fact that the fluffy pancakes are not too thick while the caramelised fruits provide a savoury taste to this rather sinful treat.

Menu-wise, the cafe heavily emphasizes on western offerings with French toast, eggs Benedict, and pancakes as breakfast options while mains such as risottos, pastas and burgers are served from 12:00 onwards. For drinks, The Red Beanbag offers the usual array of coffee and tea as well as fruit juices, chocolate drinks, and soft drinks.

We start off with Atlantic (RM22), which consists of two slices of fluffy French toast and smoked salmon, served with poached eggs which are glazed with a thick layer of hollandaise sauce. With sautéed mushroom fillings atop one toast and seasoned baby spinach atop the other, Atlantis is well-regarded as a crowd favourite thanks to its beautiful presentation and sumptuously contrasting flavours.

The Red Beanbag’s Signature Baked Eggs (RM18), a tantalising combination of eggs, tomato sauce, lamb, chicken and beef bratwurst, topped with mozzarella cheese. Served with several slices of toast, the eggs are baked to perfection with runny yolk surrounded by cooked egg white while the generous portions of bratwursts and cheese make for a satisfying finale to an unforgettable gastronomic experience.
